DUSTING TIPS
Dust in the right direction – dust is like snow; it falls from the top to the bottom. So, when dusting, start with the highest items and work your way down to the lowest. If you don’t, you’ll have to repeat your work. Another good thing to keep in mind is to work in a spiral formation – working clockwise tackle all four corners and mouldings, then move down and dust all tops of frames, etc, lower again to dust all table tops and finally all baseboards. Then vacuum.
Do you see how this allows no dust to fall on an already cleaned area?
FLOOR CLEANING TIPS
A pencil erasers works well for those new shoes of your husband’s which have left black streak marks all over the kitchen floor. An eraser will take them off in no time. Give him the eraser and have him do it.
Steel wool for those black marks that rubber soles leave behind just don’t come off with a mop, no matter how long you try. To rid a vinyl floor of unsightly smudges, gently rub the surface with a moistened steel wool soap pad. When the heel mark is gone, wipe the floor clean with a damp sponge.
KITCHEN/BATHROOM CLEANING TIPS
Most kitchen cabinets are factory manufactured and finished; even wood cabinets have enough varnish or other protective coating so that you are able to use a cleaning solution. The oil slick that builds up on cabinets - especially around the handles - is a combination of kitchen grease, food smears, skin oil and hand lotion transferred to the cabinet. To clean use dishwashing detergent in warm water and a microfiber cloth. If still have trouble use a strong alkaline cleaner and clean after heavy kitchen use.
Since preventing soap scum build up is a lot easier than cleaning it, after each shower wipe down the walls and doors with a squeegee or a microfiber cloth.
If disorganization is congesting your life and as a result you're feeling scattered and frustrated, then it's time to get organized. To achieve organization outside, you have to do something on the inside, like clarifying your priorities, and deciding how you want your belongings to be arranged. Try to keep stuff where it belongs. Know what you need/want to do, when you are going to do it, and avoid the stressful situation of not knowing what needs to be done. Organization takes time, but when you get into the habit of it, life becomes so much easier! It only takes a week to start a habit.
